Chapter Membership Categories and Annual Dues
Our Chapter uses the national USGBC’s recommended membership and dues structure.

  • Member - $50 per year. This chapter membership category applies to individuals who are associated with a USGBC (national organization) Member Company.
  • Associate Member - $65 per year. Individuals who want to participate in the local chapter, but are not affiliated with a national USGBC Member Company. Associate Members cannot vote or serve on the Board, but can serve on committees.
  • Emerging Green Builders - $25 per year. EGB applies to students and young professionals within 5 years of graduation - they have the same member benefits as Associate Members.
NATIONAL MEMBERSHIP

We encourage companies and organizations to join the USGBC national organization. Becoming a Member-Company of the USGBC supports the mission on a national level, and also provides many benefits for the company as well as the individuals in that company, both financially and otherwise. A member-company will be recognized as a supporter of the improvement of our built environment and will be listed at the national level. Members have access to many resources and information as well as access to the member directory.

Your company's membership fee supports the financial goals of the national organization, and if your company is based in our geographic region, provides financial support for the local chapter as well. Please be sure to reference our chapter when you join!

A few of the benefits for a local participant of a company or organization that is a national member include:

  • Ability to vote in elections, and run for board positions
  • Opportunity to shape the local agenda through chapter and committee leadership - Join one of our committees or chair a committee. Visit the Organization page for committee descriptions.
  • Opportunities to meet and learn from professionals from across the building industry - take advantage of our exclusive opportunities to meet, exchange ideas and build momentum with green building leaders on the local scene. Visit our Calandar of Events page to find out about our next event.
  • Opportunity to represent your company locally - Each USGBC member company has one vote at the chapter level for local issues.
  • Recognition as a leader in supporting a better built environment - the industry, governmental and educational leaders, and the media increasingly turn to the chapter to find out who is doing what in green building. Visit our Resources page to see what we offer.
  • Discounted local event fees - Chapter members get discounts to our networking and educational events as well as discounts on LEED Workshops.

SPONSORSHIP

Sponsorship of the local Chapter is a separate choice, and provides most of the funds that allow us to exist as a chapter. Benefits of local sponsorship are recognition and awareness as well as product marketing, and also the knowledge that you are supporting the costs of our activities and mission actions.

You do not have to be a national member-company to be a local sponsor.

Sponsors make up the bulk of the financial support which has allowed us to grow and provide great events, educational seminars, speakers and other resources that you find valuable. Our Mission is a direct result of your support. Foundations, companies and individuals make a difference by donating or sponsoring the chapter. Contact Gordon Shepperd (gshepperd@apollobbc.com) for more details.

Our chapter has a private email list which we use for sending event information, and other Green Building news.
Please visit our Main page to enter your information into the Greater Houston chapter database to receive these periodic emails.
